Obituary

Armen “Bill” Tufenkjian, 84, lifelong resident of Worcester, died Friday, November 25th in the Odd Fellows Home. He leaves a sister, Elisa Khachian of Fairfield, CT; three nieces; a nephew; and many grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Tufenkjian.

Armen was born in Worcester, the son of Hrag (Soghigian) Tufenkjian, a survivor of the Armenian Genocide, and Mirhan Tufenkjian, the proprietor of Tufenkjian & Co, an oriental rug store that was a fixture on Pleasant Street for half a century. Armen worked at the United States Postal Service, where he was recognized for more than 25 years of service. He was an avid collector who spent countless hours searching for books and antiques throughout the State of Massachusetts.

Funeral service are private. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
