Kathleen T. Connor, 97, of Mann School Road, Smithfield, a former teacher and librarian in Smithfield died Thursday May 25, 2006 at her home.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John H. Connor and Katherine (Grady) Connor, she lived in Smithfield all of her life.
Miss Connor was a member of the Smithfield School Department for 43 years before retiring in 1973. She taught in the elementary, Junior High and High School before becoming the first high school librarian in the new Smithfield High School. She was a graduate of the former RI College of Education (now known as RI College), class of 1930. She was a member of the National Teachers Association of the RI Retired Teachers Association and a charter member of the Blackstone Valley Retired Teachers Association. She held membership in the Smithfield Historical Society and a member of the Rosary and Alter Society of St. Philips Church in Greenville.
Miss Connor is survived by one brother, Leo J. Connor, Sr. of Bridport, Vermont and a sister, Mary V. Schlemmer of Smithfield, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John H. Connor Jr. and Mary V. Connor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation Monday 4-7pm in the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
