New Bedford - Paul Kerry Winterson, age 83, passed away surrounded by the love of his family at his home on November 15, 2022. Paul was born in New Bedford, MA to Harold W. Winterson and Sophia G. (Rapoza) Winterson. Paul’s mother passed away in 1941 and he was raised by his stepmother Mary C. Winterson.
Paul is a United States Air Force veteran who served during the Cuban Crisis and a member of the American Legion Post 166. Paul was also a retired New Bedford firefighter. He was a dedicated golfing enthusiast and a member of Allendale Country Club and The New Bedford Whaling City Golf Course. Paul was the most loyal fan to his beloved New York Yankees.
He was predeceased by his son Gary James Winterson, his daughter Kristine Marie Winterson, and his brothers Gilbert F. Winterson and Ronald W. Winterson.
Paul is survived by his wife Anne “Pat” (Cadigan) Winterson, his sister Patricia M. Winterson of Millvalley, CA, his son Kerry Mark Winterson and his wife Rebecca, and his daughter Kelly Anne Winterson; his 8 grandchildren: Michael, Megan, Erin, Stephanie, Robert, Nathan, Kelley and Kaitlyn and his seven great grandchildren: Jaidyn, Cassie, Sophie, Trevor, Carter, Khloe and Myles. He is also survived by his two nieces Kathryn Winterson Kelly and Tracey Winterson Giasson and his two nephews Sean C. Winterson and the late Trevor J. Baptiste.
Visiting hours will be held at Perry’s Funeral Home on Friday, November 18th between 5 pm - 8 pm in New Bedford, MA. A funeral mass will be held at 8:30 am on Saturday, November 19th at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New Bedford, MA; burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
