Aileen Crimmings Riley of Wellesley Hills formerly of Weston, died May 24, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 95. Mrs. Riley was born in Somerville in 1911 and was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (McCarthy) Crimmings. She attended Trinity College in Washington, D.C., where she was a member and Class President of the graduating class of 1937. She was a longtime resident of both Wellesley Hills and Weston and remained very active in the community. She was a longtime member of the Weston Golf Club and the Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton. She was also a former member of the Oyster Harbor Club, the Wianno Club, the Ace of Clubs, the Mater Dei Guild and a volunteer at Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
She was the beloved wife of the late Russell F. “Duke” Riley. She was the devoted mother of Carol A. O’Brien and her husband Miles of Vero Beach, FL, Philip C. Riley and his wife Kathleen (Duane) Riley of Wellesley Hills, Kevin Riley of Newton and the late Russell F. Riley Jr. She was the loving grandmother of Miles M. O’Brien III of NYC, Aileen A. Graef of Vero Beach, FL, Philip “Duke” Riley of NYC and the late K. Holly Riley. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren. Sister of the Late Catherine C. Crimmings and Pauline C. Dewire.
Her funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley, on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Her funeral mass will follow in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 PM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Aileen’s memory to the Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre St., Newton, MA 02458.
