Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Walter) Guiney, 91, of Brockton, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, following a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of the late Edward F. Guiney, Sr. for 45 years.
Born and raised in Brookline, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary E. (Perry) Walter.
Elizabeth attended Brookline High School until her junior year before moving to Quincy, where she graduated from Quincy High School. She worked for Sears in Brockton for over 30 years.
Betty was a generous and giving person who was devoted to her family, and loved her dogs. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, and was a talented artist. Betty also enjoyed occasional trips to Foxwoods, playing 101 with family, and scratch tickets.
She is survived by her two children, Edward F. Guiney, Jr. of Brockton and Kathleen M. Guiney also of Brockton; one grandchild, Colleen E. Axmann; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Katherine A. Guiney, and her siblings, Alfred H. Walter and Rose M. Potter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West Street, Brockton. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:25 am, in the church prior to her mass. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
