Obituary

CHICOPEE – Doris G. (Laverdiere) Hachey, 85, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 10, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on July 25, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Lucien and Arcelia (Fontaine) Laverdiere. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Precious Blood Elementary School and moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1964. She was employed as a Book Binder at Avery-Dennison in Holyoke for 35 years and retired in 1995. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild. During her leisure time, she enjoyed playing Bingo at the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 in Chicopee. Most of all, she loved spending her time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Arthur S. Hachey who was Called Home on February 16, 2013. They were married on December 26, 1955 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She leaves her six loving children, David S. Hachey of Chicopee, James V. DeLong of Tulsa, OK, Doreen G. Chamberlin and her husband, Larry, of Pocatello, ID, Mark E. DeLong and his wife, Kim, of Hampstead, NH, Robert A. Hachey and his wife, Sue, of Mount Airy, NC and Diana M. Rugani and her husband, Bruce, of Vero Beach, FL; her 11 cherished grandchildren, Diana DeLong, Nathan DeLong, Brian Chamberlin and his wife, Beth, Crystalrose Pape and her husband, Ben, Joe Chamberlin and his wife, Camille, Tanya Stoflet and her husband, Nick, Jennifer Chamberlin, Cody DeLong and his wife, Verity, Nichol Pepin and her husband, Brandon, Christopher Hachey and his partner, Christin Nichols, and Daniel Rugani; her 26 cherished great-grandchildren; her cherished great-great grandson, Everett; her dear brother, Lucien C. Laverdiere and his wife, Judy, of Benny, LA; her dear brother-in-law, Roger Turcotte of Winter Haven, FL; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two dear sisters, Linda Laverdiere and Leoza Wojciechowski; her two dear brothers-in-law, George Hachey and Louis Joseph; and her two dear sisters-in-law, Eleanor DeLong and Dorothy Turcotte. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
