Obituary

Brian David Dorgan, 72, of Bourne, Massachusetts and Hobe Sound, Florida, passed away after a short illness, peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on November 10, 2022.

He was born in Brockton to the late Bernice and Lawrence Dorgan on August 31, 1950.

Brian graduated from Hanover High School where he excelled in basketball and football. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked at the Whitman Foundry for 17 years, was in the U.S Army Reserve for three years and retired from Teamsters Local Union No. 25 after twenty-five years.

Brian was a “jack of all trades.” In 1998 he assumed the role of general contractor and built our beautiful home in Sagamore Beach which we enjoyed for 22 years. He and his group of dedicated and valued friends installed the heating and air conditioning system, built the fireplace, and laid all brick-work and tile-work. Brian was part-time brick mason and liked the creativity of laying brick walks where each one was a true work of art.

His love of music came from his father and he liked the challenge of listening to a melody and identifying the vocalist and song from the Great American Songbook.

Brian is survived by his loving wife and best friend Diane (Meier) Dorgan, who was married 36 years. They traveled extensively, toured countless museums, attended all theater genres, introduced tent camping to nieces and nephews and relished their time together at the condo in Hobe Sound for 20 years. They had truly enjoyed each other’s company every day.

Brian spent his retirement golfing north and south. He cherished golfing with his longtime Hanover classmates and golfing with his wife, sister, and friends at Holly Ridge Golf Club. Brian was an enthusiastic fan of all sports. Basketball and football were his passion (never to miss a Patriots game).

Brian had a great sense of humor, loved life, loved his family, loved animals, always eager to lend a helping hand, thought of others before himself and was a true and loyal friend.

In addition to his wife Diane, Brian is survived by his brother Larry Dorgan and his wife Diane of Hanson, Massachusetts and sister Sylvia Dorgan, Plymouth Massachusetts, his brother Dennis Dorgan (deceased) and many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Saturday November 26 from 1:00-3:00 PM with a service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals www.helpinghandsforpas.org or the Bourne Friends Food Pantry, 20 Commerce Park Rd, Pocasset, MA 02559.
