Obituary

Gail E. (Marx) Sala, resident of Charlestown entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years of age.

Gail was born in Flushing, Queens New York on June 12, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Richard F. Marx and Evelyn (Bloom) Marx. She grew up in Holden and Worcester, Mass. where she was educated.

Family was very important to Gail as loved to spend time with her nieces doing craft activities and visiting local Boston museums. She and her late husband Vito enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and San Francisco.

Gail graduated from the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She was a dedicated nurse with over 50 years of service working in various nursing homes and hospitals throughout her nursing career. Compassionate bedside nursing was her specialty in her later years with spinal cord patients at the West Roxbury VA Hospital. In 2008, she retired from the Veterans Hospital at the age of 74.

Gail is the beloved wife of the late Vito Sala. She is the dear sister of the late Susan (Marx) Miller and the late Richard Marx. She is the sister-in-law of Maureen Marx. She is survived by her nieces Siobhan Marx, Christina Marx, Deborah Miller Wilcox, as well as her great niece Sydney Wilcox and great nephew Sean Wilcox. She is also the dear friend of Stephanie Ethier.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gail’s visiting hour on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 12 noon to 1 P.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 1 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown. Her burial will take place at a later date.
