Obituary

BALDWIN- Miriam Ruth Davis of Baldwin passed away unexpectedly after a series of health issues at the age of 64. She grew up in the village of Steep Falls, and is a graduate of Bonny Eagle High School. As she raised her two children she worked the night shift at Sylvania later Control Devices. This allowed her to volunteer at the school, help with the local boy scout troop, watch as her husband coached little league, and supported her children as members of the Sacopee Valley Ski Team. She was a member of Eastern Star while her husband was an active member of Greenleaf Lodge. After her children finished school, Miriam managed Taylors Florist later purchasing it with her husband, and renaming it to Steep Falls Floral. Deciding to move the florist closer to home in Baldwin the Davis family built a new building which included a café style area called Mattocks Station. Upon the sale of this business Miriam entered her final career in the field of direct care working for two different companies specializing in residential programs for members of the adult community who require support. As a current staff member for Granite Bay Care Inc. her connection to the clients her team was responsible for was one of her greatest prides.

Above all Miriam was a Mother who did what she felt she should for her children as well as their friends, children, and even acquaintances. Her home was often filled with guests that stayed for an hour, and some for several years. It was always her intention to provide for others, and she often put her heart into the work of making others feel that they had a place to be. Even through adversities Miriam did her best with the cards she was dealt. Losing the love of her life in 2007 showed how strong she truly could be, for she continued on as best she could to maintain the life they had created. At times this effort took its toll, and she was grateful to have the support of her older sister Bonnie. These two sisters were often inseparable, and could be found together at all times that Miriam was not working. Miriam had life long friends in the community with bonds that lasted through the years of ever changing relationship dynamics. These people often provided support to her, and her children. She will be greatly missed by those who truly knew her, and we can all find comfort in the fact she has finally joined her beloved husband Rick.

Miriam is survived by her children Richard Davis Jr. of Baldwin, Nicole Peabody (Wade) of Buxton, grandchildren Ned, Charlotte, Olivia, and Myron, Siblings: Brother Carl Gain (Linda) of Westbrook, Sister Bonnie Gain of Limington, and Sister-in-law Katherine Hoyt of Whitehall, NY. Miriam is also survived by her nephews, and nieces Stacey Gain of Limington his son Joseph, Kelly Greenlaw(Robert) of OOB her children Linda, Miranda, and Colby, Craig Whitney of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mathew Gain (Holly) of Cornish.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday November 10th at 2pm in the New Baldwin Cemetery beside the Baldwin Town Hall. Pastor Will Kindred will be officiating, and Chad E. Poitras Cremation & Funeral Services will be handling the funeral.
