Obituary

In Brocton, MA, Deacon John Welch, passed away peacefully in Good Samaritan Hospital following a period of declining health. John was married to his high school sweetheart, Carol (Langille) Welch for almost 70 years. Born May 25, 1931 to the late Judge John and Marion Welch.
Graduated from St. Mary’s school in 1945, Taunton High School in 1949 and U Mass Amherst in 1952. A veteran of the Korean War, John served his country honorably while in the U.S. Army. Retired from New England Tel & Tel.
Survived by children; Daniel of Lakeland, Florida, Edward of Raynham and Sarah of Attleboro. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He acted as chairperson of the conservation commission in Raynham for 10 years, instrumental in acquiring Borden Colony for the town. A proud resident of Raynham for 60 years. Sealer of Weights & measures. John was a master storyteller and enjoyed telling a great tale. As an ordained permanent Deacon, he was assigned to Saint Ann’s Parish for 19 years, which he greatly loved.
Visiting hours will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Raynham on Tuesday, November 8th from 9-10:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am. Burial will follow at Pleasant St. Cemetery in Raynham.
