New Bedford - Carlos Manuel Pontagarca, age 52, of New Bedford, MA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal and he was the beloved son of the late Manuel Victor Pontagarca and Maria Amelia (Costa) Pontagarca. He had been a self-employed carpenter for many years.
Carlos is survived by his daughter, Ciara Pontagarca; grandchildren, Adalee Marie Ambrolt and Richard Robert Ambrolt III; his siblings, Connie Daluz and her husband Alcido, Lourdes Pontagarca, Manuel Victor Pontagarca, Francisco Pontagarca, Amelia Pontagarca, Victoria Sousa, Lucy Pontagarca and her husband Napoleon, Christina Pontagarca and her fiancé Franklin, Moses Pontagarca and his fiancé Sheri; his brother in law John Pontes; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carlos was predeceased by his brother Tony Pontagarca, and his sister Maria Pontes.
His visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022. Visiting hours will be held at perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
