Teddie Whitley, 91, of Tifton, formerly of Albany, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Whitley at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eldorado, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Jerry Baldree will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eldorado from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Born June 3, 1931, in Ben Hill County, Mr. Whitley was the son of Eddie Thomas “E.T.” Whitley and Nora Elizabeth Taylor Whitley. Before retiring, he was a pipe fitter and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 72 in Atlanta for 71 years. He was also a member of Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado.
Mr. Whitley is survived by his wife, Doris Dupree Whitley of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Teddie and Debbie Whitley of Augusta and Larry Thomas and Jan Whitley of Baxley; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ellen Williams of Thomaston and LaNell and Mike Harrison of Tifton; three sisters, Jean Sparks of Tifton, Betty Tucker of Enigma and Deleen Sockey of Augusta; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren.
