Obituary

Bridgewater- Raymond A. Braddock, 77, of Bridgewater, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at home. He was the husband of the late Muriel (Caldwell) Braddock.

Born Jan. 22, 1929, in Halifax, he was the son of the late Reuben R. and Emma Louise (LeClair) Braddock.

Mr. Braddock had been a resident of Bridgewater for more than 60 years, coming from Halifax.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, served during the Korean War.

Mr. Braddock was the head custodian at Bridgewater State College, having worked there for 21 years and retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Scotland Trinitarian Congregational Church in Bridgewater and pioneered the establishing of “Scotland Days” in the 1960s.

Mr. Braddock was a past Lord Mayor of Scotland, a section of Bridgewater.

He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard, and was a Patriot’s, Red Sox and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his children, Kathryn Burroughs and her husband James of Bridgewater, and Dennis Braddock and his wife Phyllis of N. Augusta, S.C.; his siblings, Madeline Allen of Avon, and Lorraine Soderbom and her husband Warren of Bridgewater; his grandson, Scott M. Braddock of Lakeville; and many nieces and nephews. He was also father to the late Kenneth Braddock and brother of the late Leora Whiting Packard and Russell Braddock.

His Funeral service will be in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Friday at 10 am. Burial in Scotland Cemetery, Bridgewater.

Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
