Flora “Flo” (Torlone) Gregory, of Melrose, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 26th. She was 100. Raised in Medford, Flo was the beloved daughter of the late Peter and Maria (DeAngelis) Torlone. Flo had a fulfilling 35-year career as a beauty consultant at Walgreens where she was adored by her many customers and colleagues throughout the years. Flo loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals. She enjoyed shopping (especially at Filene’s Basement back in the day), reading, traveling, the theater, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.
Flo was the devoted mother of Susan Leonard, Nancy Troy and her husband John, Peter Gregory, John Lee Gregory all of Melrose, and Lawrence Gregory and his partner Mary Anderson of Somerville. She was the loving grandmother of Gregory Leonard, Stephanie Powers, Nicole Spillane, Jonathan and Suzanne Troy, and Jesse and Lee Gregory. She was the caring great-grandmother of Taylor, Madison, and Hannah Leonard, Amanda, Kara and Reagan Spillane and Liam Powers. She was the dear sister of Virginia Goggin, and the late Dorothy Chiappini and Norma Ross and her surviving husband Richard. Flo is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Flo’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Wednesday, November 2nd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
