Catherine E. “Kay” (McIvers) Sullivan, age 88, a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away on October 22, 2022. She was the beloved wife for 35 years of the late Terence D. “Terry” Sullivan until his death in 1996.
Born in Orange, New Jersey, Kay was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Mulligan) McIvers. She was raised and educated in Kearney, NJ and was a graduate of Kearney High School and Rutgers University.
In Winchester, Kay met her husband at a teacher’s luncheon, they married and remained in Winchester where she taught third and fourth grade for over 35 years at the Mystic and Lincoln Schools. Known for her friendly personality, she was an avid reader in her spare time and enjoyed a good laugh with friends and family.
Kay is lovingly survived by her daughter Deirdre Wyman and her husband John, of Salem, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Patrick and Timothy Wyman of Salem, MA and the dear sister of the late Grace McIvers, William McIvers, Doris Wilkes, and Jewel Hazekamp.
She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thursday, October 27 at 11AM, with a Visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
