Obituary

Edward J. Chobit, age 80, of East Dennis, formerly of Brockton, died October 19, 2022. For the last few months, he was at Regal Care of Harwich. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Johnson) Chobit after 55 years of marriage.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Mack) Chobit.

Ed was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1960 and a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1982. He also served in the Massachusetts National Guard.

Mr. Chobit worked for General Dynamics in Quincy as an H.V.A.C Mechanic and spent the next 30 years working at Boston College. He retired due to having a stroke at age 55. He and Ruth were married on February 17, 1967, at St. Patrick’s Church in Brockton by Ruth’s boss Rev. Thomas Fleming S.J., whom she worked for at Boston College.

He enjoyed fishing and golfing. Ed and his wife often spent time and vacationed with their best friends, Bob and Camille Riberio, and their son’s Michael and the late Robie (Ed’s Godson)

Mr. Chobit is also survived by many close cousins and God children.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ed’s family on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 10:00 to 12:00pm, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, officiated by Rev. Anthony Penna from Boston College. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
