Rosemary B. Silk, of Stonington died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital, joining her beloved husband, David.
She is survived by her stepdaughters, Laura Silk of New London and Elena Coffey of Marlborough, 3 grandchildren, and an aunt, Katherine Hunter of West Haven, and cousins
Mrs. Silk was born in New Haven on September 5, 1943 the daughter of Irish Immigrants, Eugene and Mary (Horan) Boyle. She was graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, So. CT State College, and received her Master’s Degree from Yale University School of Nursing. She had also served as an EMT, volunteering with the Stonington Ambulance Assoc.
She enjoyed a long, distinguished nursing career. Prior to her retirement, her last position was as Regional Director and Clinical Specialist for Connecticut Community Care in Bristol. She also held membership in numerous professional Associations.
In her free time, Mrs. Silk enjoyed gardening, sewing crafts, and her beloved pets.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 9:45-10:45am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Street, Mystic at 11am. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
