Obituary

LOWELL—Mary E. (Moriarty) Sheehan 78 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Saturday evening at the Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Walter A. Sheehan with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage in November of last year.

She was born in Lowell on June 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Daniel F. and Nora (O’Neil) Moriarty, and was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School. She also attended Boston University.

Mrs. Sheehan had been employed for over 17 years as the Head Clerk at the City Clerk’s Office, Lowell. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving her besides her husband are her five children: Daniel A. and Ida Sheehan, of Chelmsford; Brian D. and Colleen Sheehan, of Methuen; Kathleen M. Sheehan, of Lowell; Kevin M. and Lynne Sheehan, of Billerica; and Mary E. Sheehan, of Lowell; nine grandchildren: Nora, Rachel, Timothy, Hannah, Keara, Bridget, Ashley, Matthew and Joseph; a sister: Elizabeth Busby, of Lowell; a sister-in-law: Helen M. Sullivan, of Methuen; also many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late John Sheehan, and sister of the late Daniel F. Moriarty.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 23rd, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith St. (Rte. 38), Lowell. Her Funeral Mass to be offered Wednesday morning at 11 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
