Muriel M. (Martin) Peters, 93, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas M. Peters.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Laurence A. and Gladys R. (Harvey) Martin, she had lived in Westport since 1968. She was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Prior to retirement, she had worked at Gorin's Department Store in Fall River where she was in charge of the Childrens Department and the Ladies Garment Department. Mrs. Peters worked the Westport voting polls (Precinct 3) for over 30 years, where she enjoyed meeting the voters. She made many new friends while going to the Westport Senior Center and the South Dartmouth Senior Center Bereavement Group. She served as an assistant girl scout leader affiliated with Plymouth Bay in 1972. An avid reader, she also enjoyed going on short trips and having fun at Foxwoods.
Survivors include a son: Thomas M. Peters, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Westport; 3 daughters: Eunice Felizberto of Tiverton, Linda Peters of NY and Margaret Peters of New Bedford; a sister: Pauline Roberge Morando of CT; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Thomas Martin and Lawrence Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 11 A.M.
Calling hours Monday from 9 - 10:30 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home prior to the Mass.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
