Obituary

George Botseas of Stonington CT passed away on September 16 at home with his family at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol M. McGill Botseas.

A US Navy officer, George’s first tour of duty was deployment to Antartica for almost one year. After nine years in the military, he went back to work at NUWC as a computer scientist where he authored and co-authored papers and books on underwater acoustics. He is referenced for his works online.

George was born on October 3, 1935 in New Bedford MA to Harry and Akrive Houreas Botseas of Greek descent. He is survived by his wife Carol and his four children Julie Ann Pukay, Demetra Ann Emerson, Christine Marie Alkandros and his only son Harry Kyle Botseas. He is also survived by his four sisters Catherine Botseas, Ruby Alves, Jenny Xifaras and Touly Harrington. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Botseas Nanopoulos.

A humble, honest and intelligent man, his life centered on his family and his work. Life goes on my love. You are with the Lord, Jesus.

There will be a service in his honor on October 29th 2022 at 12 noon at the Dinoto Funeral Home located at 17 Pearl Street in Mystic CT followed by lunch and memories at his daughter Christine's house.
