Roberto M. Pires, 59, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 9, 2022. He was the husband of Maria R. (Martins) Pires.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel de Sousa Pires and Maria dos Anjos (de Costa) Pires. He moved to New Bedford in 2000.
Roberto was a member of The Evangelical Church of the Nations. He loved to dance, sing, and watch S.L. Benfica.
Survivors include his wife, Maria; his children, Dina P. Botelho and her husband Deric, Roberto Pires and his fiancé Nicole Lefebrve, and Indalecio Pires; his grandchildren, Desteni and Diego Botelho; and his siblings Jose Carlos Pires, Paul Pires, Alcides Pires, Rui Pires, Octavia Pires, Carla Pires, and Osvalda Pires.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Eusebio Pires and Sandra Pires.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14th at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to the funeral home at 9 AM.
