Sally E. (Pike) McSweeney of Charlestown and formerly of Lowell died on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a long battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.
Sally was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools. She moved to Lowell in 1972 and lived there till 2001. For several years, Sally worked as a waitress at the Billerica Lodge of Elks in Billerica.
Sally is the beloved wife of Daniel F. McSweeney. She is the devoted mother of Karen Merril of Chelmford, Daniel McSweeney of New Hampshire, Sheila Leehan and her husband Jerry of Norfolk, Jeanne Pratt of New Hampshire, Steven McSweeney of California, Dawna Thompson and her husband Chuck of Chelmsford, Kerri Quirbach and her husband Derek of Lowell. She is the loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is the loving sister of Colleen Braccini and her husband Mike of Charlestown, Mary-Jo Graham of Holbrook, Cathy Marsden and her husband Jack of Haverhill and the late David and James Pike. She is the beloved daughter-in-law of Margaret McSweeney of Charlestown.
Sally's Funeral will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2006 at 9 am. from The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Sally will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2006 from 3 to 7 pm. Cremation will take place following her Funeral Mass.
