TEWKSBURY: Eileen L. (McCarthy) Lucas, age 76, a resident of Tewksbury for 55 years, died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at the Wilmington Health Care Center.
She was the beloved wife of 57 years to George J. Lucas, who died July 8, 2005.
Born in Arlington on February 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary J. (Martin) McCarthy.
Mrs. Lucas was raised in Arlington and attended Arlington schools.
Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed as an underwriter by the St. Paul Insurance Company formerly of Boston, where she worked for many years.
She previously worked as secretary for the Tewksbury Board of Selectman, the former Carter Ink Company and Hood Milk Company both of Boston.
Mrs. Lucas was an avid reader and also enjoyed vacationing during the summer months with her family, especially her granddaughter at York Beach Maine. In addition, she enjoyed attending musical theaters in Boston, ceramics and tending to her flower garden at her home.
Mrs. Lucas was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church of Wilmington.
She is survived by two daughters; Gayle A. Plouffe and her husband Paul of Pelham, NH and Nancy E. Lucas of Tewksbury; one granddaughter; Sarah A. Plouffe of Jupiter, FL; one sister-in-law; Ann McCarthy of Fredericksburg, VA; one brother-in-law; Howard Donahue of Tewksbury; also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lucas was the sister of the late Mary Donahue, Patricia McCarthy and Edward McCarthy.
A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, May 26th, 11 a.m., at the Tewksbury Cemetery. At her request there are NO calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 are requested. Arrangements entrusted to the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.
