Eileen “Sally” Carreiro, 92, of Bristol, RI, formerly of Smithfield, RI died Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. Antoine’s Residence. She was the widow of Arthur M. Carreiro.
Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Eileen (O’Neill) Swanton. She lived most of her early life in the Providence area before moving to Smithfield in 1950 where she resided for the next 50 years. While Sally had primarily been a homemaker, she did work as a telephone operator for New England Telephone, and later in life, as a realtor, then for the Cranston ARC, before retiring from Memorial Hospital. Sally was most notably known, however, for her great sense of humor, quick wit, and love of family.
She is survived by her daughters: Eileen Carreiro-Lewandowski and her husband Anthony of Michigan and California, and Ann Laprade and her husband Andre of Lincoln, Rhode Island. Perhaps her greatest joys were her grandchildren: Eric Lewandowski (Sapna Nagar), Kathryn (Timothy)Flanagan, and Elizabeth and Alex Laprade and if possible, even more so, her great grandchildren; Caleb, Arianna, Erin, Cameron Flanagan, and Anand and Asha Lewandowski. She was the mother of the late David A. Carreiro. She is survived by one brother, Jack Swanton of Sarasota, Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 12th at 10 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
