Obituary


Vangel, Victor James, born May 29, 1933 in South Boston, MA.

A graduate of South Boston High School, he served in the Korean War stationed at Fort Lewis, Pierce County, Washington with the 28th AAA Gun Battalion, Btry D as a PFC in the US Army. A life-long member of The Holy Trinity Albanian Orthodox Church, he served his Albanian community and Church faithfully as President and various other roles within the Parish Council. He was the proprietor of various corner markets in South Boston/Dorchester area and retired from the State of Massachusetts Quincy Armory.

He was predeceased by his parents, Simi and Maria Vangel of Albania, and his brother Anesti Vangel. He leaves his devoted wife of 42 years, Marianne, step-daughter Denise Palmieri and family, stepson Daniel Shea and family, sister Louise LaScola, her husband Joe LaScola, niece Elizabeth Getchell, nephews David Vangel, Scott, Eric and Craig LaScola, and many loving grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral service on Saturday, October 8th at 10am in the Holy Trinity Albanian Church, 245 D Street in South Boston. Burial Services to follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave, Boston, MA 02130.

In-lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Victor’s name to either the Holy Trinity Albanian Orthodox Church or the Jimmy Fund.
