SOMERSET… Marie F. (McColligan) Pavao, 97, of Somerset passed away at her home on September 26, 2022.
She was the loving wife of the late Manuel T. Pavao.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late James F. and Rose (DeCarlo) McColligan. She grew up during the Great Depression and worked in the garment industry in her younger years. She met the love of her life on the Jersey shore, they got married and moved to Somerset, MA. where she raised her two beloved children. She had a good sense of humor and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She took much pride in being a homemaker and adored her grandchildren. She was their biggest fan cheering them on at many hockey and baseball games! As part of the “Greatest Generation”, she prayed to God daily, respected authority and was proud to be an American–sporting an American flag pin on her coat lapel. She enjoyed keeping busy cleaning, shopping, gardening, playing solitaire and listening to Frank Sinatra. Every Sunday through her final days, she was sure to have her family over for Sunday Dinner, a tradition she loved!
Survivors include her children: Thomas Pavao and his wife Susan of Fall River, MA, Marie (Pavao) Merrill and her husband Kenneth of South Dennis. MA; her grandsons; Thomas J. Pavao of Flagstaff, AZ, Kyle R. Merrill of Brewster, MA and Colin J. Merrill of Myrtle Beach, SC; her great grandchildren, Tyler J. Pavao and Mae R. Merrill along with several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Catherine C. Peters of Philadelphia, PA.
There are no services scheduled at this time, but hope to arrange a private burial at the Bourne National Cemetery.
