Dorothy Roberts Fader, a Needham resident since 1929, died on Tuesday May 16, at her home. She was 84 years old. Born in Roxbury, MA., Miss Fader was a graduate of Needham High School class of 1939. She attended Bryant Stratton Business School and the Boston School of Fine Arts. Miss Fader worked as a secretary for Rustcraft Greeting Card Company and then GTE, in both Needham and Waltham. Dorothy was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Needham, where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of several church committees, and sang in the church choir. A gifted artist, she was a member of the Needham and Wellesley Art Associations. She was also a world traveler, enjoyed playing the piano and gardening. Beloved daughter of the late Marjorie Dell (Roberts) and Oliver Scott Fader. Dear sister of Barbara Sedgwick of Needham, Maynard Fader of VA, Elisabeth Anne Boughton of Needham, M. Carol Edney of Pleasanton CA and the late Oliver Scott Fader Jr. Also survived by 17 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Needham. 858 Great Plain Avenue, Needham on Thursday May 25 at 1:00 PM. Interment private.
