Obituary

George McKenna 59, of Cambridge, passed away on September 22,2022.

Born in Baldwin, New York, he was the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Chamberlain) McKenna.

George was a jack of all trades, who had many different careers and passions throughout his working life.

A lifelong New York Yankees fan, he enjoyed sharing his love of baseball with his children and grandchildren. He loved cooking big family meals, and was known for his delicious “recipes” especially his chicken parm, mac and cheese and Sunday roasts.

He loved being outside and spent many days sitting outside in local parks doing his puzzles or reading the newspaper. He enjoyed watching the sunsets and loved to share his favorite spots with everyone.

He is survived by his children, Erin McKenna and her fiancé Keith of North Attleboro, Meagan Wilde and her husband Cory of Medway, James McKenna of Medway, Colin McKenna of Boston, Kaitlin McKenna and her partner Bryce of Banksia, Australia and Shannon McKenna of Franklin.

He is also survived by his siblings, Frances Montore and her late husband Bob, Raymond McKenna and his wife Peggy, Virginia Houst and her late husband Joseph, Patricia “Pat” Johnson and her husband Len, Margaret “Peggy” Fennelly and her late husband Tom, Thomas McKenna and his wife Maureen, James McKenna and his wife Noreen, Eileen Jordan and her husband Jerry, and Marybeth Jamison and her husband Frank.

He was the brother of the late, Phillip McKenna, Robert McKenna, Edward McKenna and his wife Susan, Nancy Armbruster and her husband Richie, Theresa Doherty and her husband Charlie and Richard McKenna and his wife JoEllen.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Maeve, Max, Hannah and Marcus.

George had a special and close bond with his cousin Noreen “Cuz” and was a loving uncle, cousin, and friend to many, many more.

His funeral, mass will be celebrated on October 5th 2022 in St. Joseph Church, Medway, MA at 10:30am.
