Richard J. Medicke, 61, of New Bedford, born February 13, 1961, died unexpectedly at home on September 26, 2022. He was born in Boston, son of the late Richard H. and Gertrude E. (Gessner) Medicke. He was raised in Boston and Quincy before moving to New Bedford some 35 years ago.
Richard worked for 43+ years with Verizon. He is a 1996 graduate of The University of Massachusetts. He enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and going out with Bill to eat. Rich was a long-time Member of Rotary, providing much support, both financial and interpersonally. He will be remembered for providing scholarships to many young people to help them achieve their dreams, as well as donating to food banks and many other charitable organizations.
Survivors include his brother, Paul Medicke and his wife Amiee of Foxboro; 3 sisters, Marybeth Medicke of El Paso, TX, Meg Medicke of Attleboro and Joanne Medicke of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.
His visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 30th from 5-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by burial in Rural Cemetery.
