Obituary

William N. "Bill" McClure, 80, of Westport, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at home. He was the husband of Barbara (Blois) McClure, with whom he raised his family in Acton Massachusetts from 1974 -2001 and shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Stamford, CT, son of the late William N. and Alice (Benzyk) McClure, he had lived in Westport since 2001. Prior to retirement, he was a rural postal worker for the United States Postal Service. A very spiritual man, he was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport, where he served as sexton and was a member of the choir. Mr. McClure was a master gardener, an outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking. He was an Assistant Boy Scout Master for Troop 11.

Including his wife, he is survived by a son: David K. McClure and his wife Susan of Manhattan, NY; 2 daughters: Susan L. (McClure) Ertelt and her husband Stephen of Essex, CT and Carey J. (McClure) Hill and her husband Thomas of Ellington, CT; 3 brothers: Jeffrey McClure of CT, Richard McClure of FL and Mark McClure of CT; a sister: Maryann Stradczuk of CT; 5 grandchildren: Dana, Jay, Alexandra, Ashlynn and Alyssa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was father of the late Derrick G. McClure and grandfather of the late Spencer G. Ertelt.

Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Rd., Westport at 9:30 A.M.

Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2022 from 8 - 9 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA prior to the Mass.

Interment will be private at a later date.
