Obituary

James P. Murray, of Chestnut Hill, Newton, President Emeritus of the Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Assoc., died Wednesday may 17, 2006 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, He was 86.
Born and raised in Boston he was a known and loved loyal BC fan, Sugar Bowl era “Gentleman Jim” was a Triple Eagle, graduating from BC High, BC and BC Law School. He was a Hall of Fame Committee Member and Past President of the John F. Kennedy VFW Post. He was a partner with the law practices of Boston’s Caulfield, Harrigan and Murray, former Attorney General and Lt Governor Frank Kelly, former Boston City Councilor & Attorney George T. Lannigan.
Beloved husband of the late Caroline M. (Stashio) Murray, “Gentleman Jim” is survived by his loving daughters; Frances C. Murray formerly of Newton, Anne C. Murray Griffin of Newton, his loving sons; James P. Murray MD of Santa Monica CA and Attorney Robert M. Murray of Oslo Norway, his cherished grandchildren Robert and Katharine Griffin of Newton and Brian, Katrina, Erik and Evan Murray of Oslo Norway. He was the dear brother of the late Mary Sherry, Anna C. Murray, Margaret Holland and Elizabeth "Libby" O’Connor and adored uncle of his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Friday May 26 at 9 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ignatius Church, Chestnut Hill, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 PM.
