Obituary

HOLLIS- September 22, 2022 - John A. Howe Jr. of Hollis, ME, passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center at 53 years old. John was born in Portland, ME, to Sharon and John Howe Sr. on August 15, 1969. He had one child: a daughter, Ashley, who was the light of his life and greatest source of pride. John was excited to getting married for the first time in Las Vegas next year to his fiancé and perfect match, Tina Iatesta. An incredibly hard and loyal worker, John spent the last 34 years employed at Nichols Portland, LLC, where his coworkers admired him as a wonderful and humorous colleague.
John was passionate about music, particularly rockabilly. On the weekends (and sometimes weeknights!), you could find him singing and playing his guitar, keyboard, or stand-up bass in his music room until the wee hours of the morning. He loved going to concerts with his fiancé and meeting his favorite musicians, including the Stray Cats, The Blasters, and Robert Gordon. So many people will remember John for his love of music and the joy it brought to his soul.
John was an incredible father. Even when he struggled, his daughter always came first. Together they enjoyed eating chicken wings, going to FunTown SplashTown, and swimming in the waves at the ocean. John was also a proud and loving dog-dad to his babies Porter and Dolly, named after country artists Porter Wagner and Dolly Parton. His dogs meant so much to him and were so spoiled and loved every single day.
As a partner, John was caring and generous with a unique sense of humor. He loved his fiancé with his whole heart. After their first date, he told the whole world that he had found his Dolly Parton. Despite having his quirks (like cooking five different foods at once that did not go together and leaving the kitchen a mess), John was partner who was worthy of all the love the world had to offer.
John is survived by his daughter, Ashley, his fiancé, Tina, his mother, Sharon, his father, John, his three sisters, Jolene, Jo-Anne, and Stephanie, and his niece Lydia. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday Oct. 1 from 3 - 6 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Please join us with joy in your hearts as we celebrate the life of John.
