Obituary

Shirley (Harris) Jean-Baptiste of Dorchester passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on September 20, 2022. Shirley was born on November 6, 1943 in Vienna, Ga. to Freddie and Grace (Wallace) Harris. She was third out of five children.
She graduated from Vienna Industrial High School in 1961, where she utilized her athletic ability of playing basketball and running track. Upon graduation she migrated to Boston, Massachusetts at the young age of 18. Several years later she gave birth to her only child, Michael Harris.

Shortly after she began her joyous tenure working at Brigham and Women’s Hospital were she worked with new born babies. It brought her lots of comfort and joy. Shirley then retired after forty plus years. Along the way, she met the love of her life thru a friend, Frederick Jean-Baptise, whom she was married to for 47 glorious years.

Shirley leaves behind her husband, Frederick Jean-Baptise, Dorchester, Ma.; Her son Michael Harris, (Audrey), Lawrenceville, Georgia; two brothers Larry Harris (Carnell), Warner Robbins, Ga.; Timothy Anderson, Vienna, Ga.; Her loving step-daughter, step-sons and grandchildren Gina Jean-Baptiste, Eric Jean-Baptiste, Frantz Jean Baptiste, Harry Jean- Baptiste, Ramsey Jean- Baptiste, Aurora Jean- Baptiste, Francia Jean-Baptiste, Fahadiya Jean-Baptiste, Fabiola Jean- Baptiste, Kariana Jean -Baptiste, Jacqueline Jean -Baptiste, Frantz Belgrave, Fabian Belgrave, Yves Delva, Jolette Paul, Nadine llvert, Lionel llvert, Rebecca llvert, Deborah llvert and Dorothy llvert. Her loving sister in laws, Nezzie Harris, Miami, Fl.; Essie Harris, Atlanta, Ga.; and Lessie M. Harris, Vienna, Ga.; Two aunts Annie Lou Beal, Cordele, Ga. and Lucille Buford, Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit with Shirley’s family on Friday, September 30, 202 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY, On Saturday, October 1, 2022 relatives and friends with gather in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Holy Name Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
