Gilberto Maldonado (74) of died September 16th in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of Joanne Maldonado of Brockton.
He was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico son of the late Eleuterio Maldonado and Julia Olivera. Gilberto, more commonly known to everyone as Pappy was someone you could count on to put a smile on your face. He was always cracking a joke. A jack of all trades he was the guy to call to fix a problem whether you needed a carpenter or a mechanic. If you knew Pappy you knew he loved fishing. Being a fisherman was part of his well being and when he was on the water he was at his best and when he wasn’t on the water his next favorite place was Dunkin Donuts. He was a God fearing man and put the Lord first.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 children, Mark & Dominga Maldonado (who he adopted), 3 step children, Donald Paine, Marie Paine and Theresa Baker, father in law to the late Alan Kimball, father figure to Thomas, Aaron and Deanera Lewis as well as many foster children, late niece, Celia Orellana, great nephews and niece Joshua Lopez, Oliver Orellana and Julissa Carmona Maldonado, his grandchildren, Alan Paine, Korin, Kelly and Jaime Baker, Analiese Maldonado, Levi Oquendo, and MalissaMerianos along with countless great grandchildren and extended family still in Puerto Rico.
Visitation in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton September 22nd from 5-8 pm. Cremation to follow.
