Obituary

LOWELL         Almeirinda (Vasconcelos) Morais, 91, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover.  She was the widow of Eduardo da Cunha Morais who passed away in 1993.

     She was born on February 14, 1931 in Graciosa, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Francisco DaSilva Vasconcelos, and the late Maria de Jesus Lobao.  She grew up and was educated in Graciosa.  She married her husband, Eduardo da Cunha Morais in 1959, and she started her family.

     In 1975, along with her family, she relocated to the United States, settling in Peabody.  While living in Peabody she worked as a tailor making leather jackets.  In 1982, she returned home to Graciosa with her husband and her daughter.  She later returned to the United States, this time settling in Lowell.  She loved to spend time with her family, each time she moved, it was to be nearer to those she cared about.   She was a very talented seamstress and tailor, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing, but her favorite pastime was cooking for her family.

     She is survived by her two children, Manuel Eduardo Morais and his wife Adalberta of Haverhill, and Maria de Fatima Morais of Lowell; Her grandchildren, Brian Avila of Lowell, Shawn Morais of Los Angeles, CA, Andrew Morais and his fiancé Megan Williams of Mount Pleasant, SC, Andrea (Morais) Neumann and her husband Matthew Neumann of Mount Pleasant, SC; Her siblings Juventino Vasconcelos and his wife Areolinda of Peobody, Celestino Vasconcelos of Graciosa, Arelindo Vasconcelos and his wife Evone of Graciosa, Maria de Fatima Vasconelos Gil of Lowell, Sister in law Terezinha Vasconcelos of Peabody and Maria DeVasconcelos of Lowell .  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
     
     She was the grandmother of the late Michael Avila who passed away at the age of 5, the sister of the late Edalina Vasconcelos,  Leontina Vasconcelos, Florentino DeVasconcelos, Valentim Vasconcelos, Father in law Candido Morais and wife, and many brothers in law and sisters in law.

     You are invited to her visitation from 8:30am until 10am on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 978-458-6816.   Her funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 11a.m. at Saint Anthony's Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, MA 01852.  Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury, MA.
