Susan Gray, age 58, a Dental Laboratory Technician from Brookline, NH died at home on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 1, 1947, in the Naval Station at Annapolis, Maryland, a daughter of Mary Foss Gray and the late Ronald Gray. She graduated from North Reading High School, North Reading, MA in 1965 and attended four years at Wilkes College, Wilkes Barre, PA. After college, Ms. Gray got married and worked as a Medical Technical Writer in New Jersey. In 1971, she and her husband moved to Derry, NH where she began working for her father as a Dental Technician in Nashua Dental Lab. Sue divorced, remarried and moved to Deerfield, NH in 1975. Upon her father’s passing in 1982, Sue worked for Crown Craft Dental Studio in Hudson, NH until her medical retirement in 2003. She divorced in 2002 and moved to Brookline, NH.
Sue was a superb equestrian and served as treasurer for the Hollis Equestrian Association. She was a voracious reader and interested in all matters of science. An excellent marksman, in 1987 she was recognized in competition as the number one shooter for silhouette pistol for the state of NH. One could always find Susan outside tending to her gardens or to her horses and cats.
Susan is survived by her mother, Mary of Hendersonville, NC; two brothers, James and his wife Maggie of Marlborough, CT and Thomas and his wife Lisa of Leavenworth, KS, nieces, nephews and stepchildren. She was predeceased by her father, Ronald.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service for Susan Gray to be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3, at the home of her stepdaughter, Cindy Bakios, 64 Scobie Pond Road, Derry. Deacon John Martin of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH will officiate. Her cremated remains will be inurned next to her father in a private cemetery in Deerfield.
