Obituary

David S. Cleaver, 80, a resident of Mystic died Sept 13, 2022, from complications related to Parkinson’s disease.
David was a former resident of Hartford, where he worked for the Connecticut State Department of Education as the coordinator of statistical information systems. He studied economics at Oberlin College for his bachelor’s degree. David went on to earn master’s and doctoral degrees in quantitative economics and econometrics at the University of Illinois. During this time, he also studied as a Fulbright exchange student in Denmark.
Born in New Haven, he attended Hamden public schools. Before moving to Hartford, he taught quantitative methods courses to business students at the University of New Haven, which led his co-authoring a Management Science textbook. He enjoyed travel and outdoor recreational activities, especially sailing.
Unmarried, David is survived by his brother, Merritt of Kennett Square, Pa.; niece Bonnie of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and nephew William of Arlington, Texas. Donations may be made to the Mystic Congregational Church'
