Obituary

Lois Jean Badore McKee, 75, of Lumber City passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Lumber City Nursing and Rehab Center after a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s Disease. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Saint Anne's Episcopal Church in Tifton with Father Gary Abbott officiating. Ms. McKee will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Born March 12, 1947, in Vergennes, Vermont, Ms. McKee was the daughter of the late Erwin Edward Badore and Regina Jean Aube’ Badore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray McKee, Jr.; and one son, Tony McKee.
Ms. McKee was raised in Cocoa, Florida. Ms. McKee attended college as an adult with a husband and three teenaged children at home. She graduated with Honors from ABAC with an Associate Degree in Science for Sociology. She continued her education at Valdosta State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education. Lois taught at Tift County Junior High School with her daughter for the first ten years of Ms. McKee’s career. Lois also taught at Eighth Street Middle School before moving to Hazlehurst. She finished her teaching career in the Jeff Davis County School System. Lois was a very creative and animated person; she loved teaching children with special needs!

Lois is survived by one son, Trae McKee of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Paul Robertson of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Linda Baldree of Cocoa, Florida; one niece, Colleen Gates of Cocoa, Florida; one nephew, Eddie Badore of Cocoa, Florida; several grandchildren, all of Hazlehurst; her very best friend, Danny Calhoun of Hazlehurst; as well as her beloved dog, Batman.
