WORCESTER___Philip J. Mara, 76, of 22 Park Terrace Road died Tuesday May 16 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his daughter, Kathleen M. Pelevan of Worcester; a sister, Marilyn E. Mara Quinlan of Worcester and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by five brothers, Fred, Robert, Richard, Paul and George. He was born in Worcester, a son of Fred C. and Mary A. (Kennedy) Mara and has lived here all his life.
Mr. Mara worked for the City of Worcester. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and a veteran of the Korean War. He was educated in Worcester schools and was also graduated from Concord College, Athens, WV. Mr. Mara was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, the Aldrich Astronomical Society and the Korean War Veterans Association.
The funeral will be held on Friday May 19 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday May 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
