Obituary

HOLLIS- Cindy Walker-Butler, age 57 passed away at home in Hollis on September 10th, 2022, at 3am peacefully with her husband at her side. Cindy had fought a battle with Crohn’s disease for 30 years. September 2021 she was diagnosed with ALS which eventually took her life.
Cindy was born Christmas of '64 in Fort Dix New Jersey, as her Dad was in the service. The daughter of (the late) David Roberts and Deanna Roberts.
They later moved to Pine Point Maine. She attended and graduated from Scarborough High School. Cindy delivered newspapers and later worked at the Clam Bake. Cindy got involved with the fire department which was her dream and received her EMT license at the age of 16.
Her and her late husband Douglas Walker Sr. eventually moved to Hollis in the early 90’s and built a house. There she joined the Hollis Fire Debt where she continued until around 2004. Cindy eventually started working for American Medical Response around 1993 as an EMT, EMT advanced, then later as a Supervisor along with other certifications. She continued until around 2011 when her health would not allow. Hard for her to accept as she loved her work.
Cindy enjoyed skiing, fishing, swimming, and her motorcycle (first motorcycle at age 12), a 650 Bandit. Tears ran down her face when she had to sell it do to her health.
Cindy is survived by her husband Glen Butler, mother Deanna Roberts, sister Cathy Roberts Larrabee, son Douglas Walker Jr., daughter’s Samantha and Sasha Bryant, stepdaughter Angela Harris, stepson Charles Butler, and 13 grandchildren. Cindy is pre-deceased by her dad David and her great granddaughter Eleanor.
Cindy was a fighting person who does not easily admit defeat in spite of difficulties and opposition. In her life there were many. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday Sept. 24 from 10 - 11 AM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11 AM, followed by Hollis Fire Department Honors.
