Bridgewater- Shirley M. (Maxell) Lockhard, 97, of Bridgewater died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Island Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeville. She was the wife of the late Cecil J. Lockhard.
Born Sept. 19, 1908, in Andover, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Oscar S. and Susie (Whitemore) Maxell and her birth mother Myrtie Wyman.
Mrs. Lockhard was a bookkeeper for Atherton Furniture in Brockton.
She also worked for a short time in the town clerks office in Bridgewater.
Mrs. Lockhard was an organist at Scotland Church and Baptist Church in Bridgewater.
She had been a resident of Bridgewater for the past 53 years and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was the mother of Merrill Lockhard and his wife Kathryn of Bridgewater; grandmother of Tracey Burke of Lakeville, Merrill Lockhard jr. of Berkley, Kimberly Markham of Raynham and Tiffany Maher of Lakeville. Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Saturday at 10:30 am. Visiting hours prior to service from 8:30-10:30 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
