LEICESTER: Irene A. (Vancelette) Messier, 58, passed away surrounded by her family at St. Vincent's Hospital on Thursday, September 1. She leaves her son; Jonathan Boisclair of Cherry Valley, daughter; Christina Messier of Leicester, her sisters; Diane Cooney and her husband Dennis of Leicester, Barbara Asquith and her husband Stephen of Cherry Valley, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters; Sharon Vancelette and Nancy Trudeau.
Irene was a registered nurse for many years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, being at the beach and her beloved dogs. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Robert S. and Irene E. (Cleary) Vancelette and later graduated from Leicester High School and Becker College with a degree in nursing.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 8th from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 7th from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
