Madaus, Kathleen “Kathy” Margaret (McGrail) of Hingham, MA passed on August 29, 2022 at 81 years old. Kathy was born on June 16, 1941 in Worcester, MA to the late Margaret and William McGrail, the fourth of five children. Raised in Cherry Valley, she was a graduate of Leicester High School. She graduated first in her class from Ana Maria College. She earned her master’s degree in Education and became a teacher, first in Leicester and for many years in Amesbury MA.
Kathy’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Over their 57 years of marriage, she and Bill built a beautiful life together that they shared with their 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Kathy had a wide circle of friends and loved to be with friends and family. Kathy loved to travel and visit new places and she and Bill explored the world together with friends and family. Kathy especially enjoyed wintering in Florida and summers on the Cape with her family and spending time with her grandchildren who called her ‘Nonnie”.
She is survived by her beloved husband Bill; daughter Kathleen (of Hingham) and her children Liam and Julia; son Chris and his wife Tina (of Needham MA) and their children Will, Stephanie, and Patrick; son Matt and his wife Heather (of Vallejo CA) and their children Quinn and Owen; daughter Erica and her husband Dave (of Newport RI). Kathy will be missed by many other friends and relatives. We all loved and admired her greatly.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 2, at St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave. Needham, at 11am. Interment in Needham Cemetery.
