Edna A. Panzini, 84, of Salem, Passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Saturday, August 27, 2022 following a brief illness.
She was the devoted wife of the late William M. Panzini, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Rose E. (Thibault) Smith. Following her graduation from St. Joseph Academy, she studied hairdressing at the Mansfield Beauty School in Boston. Following her graduation she opened La Petite Beauty Salon in Salem, which she operated until her early retirement.
Edna loved her family, her large extended family and life. She and Bill met at a dance, and the couple married in 1959. They enjoyed their winters in West Palm Beach and Royal Palm Beach, Florida along with many members of their large family. Edna was an avid golfer and won several trophies playing various Florida courses. Back north, she was a member of the New Meadows Golf League in Topsfield. She will be dearly missed by many.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Bettencourt of San Luis Obispo, CA and sisters-in-law, Regina ‘Jean’ Panzini and Marie Panzini both of Revere. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and several great grandnieces and a great grandnephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, , 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday, September 1st, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
