Obituary

Ray S. Ingle, Jr. 61, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Ingle was born May 23, 1961, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Ray S. Ingle, Sr. & Gwendolyn “Gwen” Barber Ingle. He was raised in Asheville, North Carolina and graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in 1979. He began his career in law enforcement communications with the Asheville Police Department. Following his return home to Irwin County, he worked as a communications officer with the Georgia State Patrol until his retirement. He owned Ray Ingle Racing and enjoyed spending time at short-track races. Ray, Jr. was passionate about racing and spent the greater part of his life promoting and participating in the sport.

He is survived by a sister, Mandy & Kelly Dix of Monroe; a brother, Jon & Robbie Ingle of Lake Charles, Louisiana; nieces and nephews: Cory & Payton Dix, Raye & Charlie Harper, Jordan Fincher Fruge, and Colton Ingle; several great-nieces and nephews including: Kylee Harper, Madison Harper, and Conner Harper; aunts and uncles: Linda & Gerald Pirkle of Sycamore, Sharon & Terry Dewberry of Marietta, and Joe & Darlene Ingle of Ayden, North Carolina; along with many cousins and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you load up your family and go to a local racetrack, like Crisp Motorsports Park, to enjoy and support Ray’s love of racing.
