Joseph J. Botelho, 80, of New Bedford died Wednesday May 17, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Grace (Simons) Botelho.
Born in Portsmouth, RI, the son of the late Louis and Elvira M. (DeConta) Botelho, he lived in Fall River and New Bedford for most of his life.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Survivors include five children, Elizabeth Machnik of Raynham, Deborah Botelho, Grace Botelho, David Amaral, and Phillip Amaral, all of New Bedford; two brothers, John Botelho of Rhode Island and Louis Botelho of Fall River; and eight grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Sandra Botelho, John Botelho, Joseph Botelho, and Carol Guimont.
His Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Friday May 26, 2006 at 12 Noon in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday May 19, 2006 from 6-9 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
