Robert J. "Jack" McGrath, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at his home in Charlestown. He was 82 years of age.
Jack was born in Boston on July 5, 1940, a son of the late John E. McGrath and Catherine B. (Connors) McGrath. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1958. Jack worked as a Truck Driver for Riss Paper Company and was a 30 year member of Teamsters Union Local # 25. Jack enjoyed vacationing with his family which was so very important to him in Madison, Maine and in his spare time, Jack enjoyed fishing and walking around the Navy Yard with his beloved dog Cali and along the Boston waterfront.
Jack is the beloved husband of 63 years to Irene F. "Renie" (Brophy) McGrath. He is the devoted father to Kelly Riley and her husband Ed, Tracy Selter and her husband Rich, Brian McGrath and the late Robert J. "Bobby" McGrath Jr. He is the loving Papa to Ashleigh, Eddie, Michael, Colleen, Michael, Kevin and Ava. He is the beloved brother of William "Billy" McGrath and the late Michael "Butchie" McGrath, Francis "Footer" McGrath, John McGrath and Mary Plona. He is also survived by his beloved dog Cali and his many loving nieces and nephews.
