Kathryn L. "Kay" DeGregory… of Tewksbury, retired Mitre Corporation executive secretary; 74
TEWKSBURY: Kathryn L. "Kay" (Curtin) DeGregory, age 74, a resident of Tewksbury for 52 years, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, following a year long battle with A.L.S., at her home in Tewksbury.
She was the wife of John Andrew DeGregrory, with whom she would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 13th.
Born in Cambridge on November 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Catherine M. (Lucey) Curtin.
Mrs. DeGregory was raised in Arlington.
She attended Arlington schools and was graduated from Arlington High School in 1950.
Following her marriage, she and her husband moved to Tewksbury, where she was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed for many years as an executive secretary for the Mitre Corporation in Bedford.
Mrs. DeGregory previously worked for the Tewksbury Public School System as a librarian at the Heath Brook, Foster and Center Schools.
Following her retirement, she assisted in the family business; Industrial Sales Associates, Inc. of Tyngsboro, formerly of Tewksbury, which was founded by her husband.
Mrs. DeGregory was a member of the former T.V.A. (Tewksbury Veterans Association)
She enjoyed frequenting fine dining establishments, traveling, dancing, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee aboard the “Chiquita”, bowling at the former Wamesit Lanes in Tewksbury and in her final days watching day time television.
In addition, she was an avid sports fan and truly loved the Boston Red Sox Baseball Team.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter; Linda A. Patenaude of Methuen; two sons; Robert E. DeGregory and his wife Gail (Witkum)of Plaistow, NH and Richard J. DeGregory and his wife Lisa (McCarthy) of Tyngsboro; three grandchildren; Leanne Patenaude of Lowell and Alisha and Robert DeGregory of Plaistow, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 21st, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Monday, May 22nd, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the A.L.S.A., 75 McNeil Way, # 310, Dedham, MA 02026, www.als-ma.org, are requested.
