Obituary

SPRINGFIELD ~ Brian J. Moran, 47, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on November 10, 1974, a beloved son of the late Margaret Mary Moran who was Called Home on September 19, 2019. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Cathedral High School in 1993 and was a lifelong resident of the city. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Political Science. He was employed for 25 years as a Construction Department Fiber Optics Splicer for Verizon. He was a member of the IBEW Local 2324. During his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his two dear aunts, Anne M. Manning of Hampden and Helen M. Brissette and her husband, Bruce, of Ludlow; his dear uncle, Shaun W. Moran of Springfield; and his many dear cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, John F. Moran who was Called Home on April 5, 2005 and Isabelle M. (O’Neill) Moran who was Called Home on July 31, 1998; and his two dear uncles, Patrick F. Moran who was Called Home on June 4, 2015 and Patrick J. “Paud” Manning who was Called Home on July 12, 2020. His Family and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104, (please meet directly at the Church). His Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 292 Hampden Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours. His Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
