Eileen (Savitch) Sousa, 78, of Westport passed away at St. Anne’s Hospital on 8/19/22.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Lucille Savitch. She leaves behind her husband of 52 yrs. Stephen Sousa.
She had various jobs such as working at the former Kerr Mill, factory work, working at Photography Unlimited and her last and most rewarding job was opening her home and becoming a foster parent for nearly 40 yrs. In her earlier yrs, she enjoyed gardening (since age 11), trips to Disney, Niagara Falls, NH and AZ., Seekonk Speedway and the Casino, classic car shows, and making wreaths and ropes at Christmas time which was a yearly tradition she passed on to her daughters. Later in life she enjoyed puzzle books, funny cat videos and TV. She also loved her 8 cats. She was a member of Christ Temple Church, Tiverton, for the last 15 yrs.
Besides her husband, she leaves behind four children, Sheila Sousa-Moraites/Peter of Belville, NC, Todd Medeiros and his partner Sandra Szurley of Fall River, Lisa Bouchard/Ronnie of Spring Hill, FL and Stephen Sousa, Jr, of Homosassa Springs, FL and many foster children; too many to name. In addition she also leaves behind a grandson, Brandon Smith of CO and her two great granddaughters Kyra/Sophia Gallagher of Orlando, Fl. She was the grandmother of the late Erica Smith and sister to the late Joseph Savitch, Patricia Botelho and Sandra Sherman.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Southcoast Funeral Home for Eileen Sousa. We will be having a Celebration of Life in the fall to be held at Christ Temple Church; date to be announced later.
